Lets do a shame list of worst automakers website, I nominate vw.com because you can't build a GTI (or any Volkswagen for that matter) No Volkswagen, I don't want to be paired to a car that already exist somewhere, I want to see how much my dream GTI will cost. even Toyota gets this right.
Seriously!?? what is this 2001?!!
a close second is a mazdausa.com

The VW site is also annoyingly pretentious. It's as if they're catering to the hipster demographic.

I nominate Jeep, Ram, and Fiat until they get the configurator that Dodge and Chrysler are using now. Seriously, that old one doesn't even show you anything more than a car of the correct trim level and color. No options show up or anything.

I think that's the worst part. it looks so flashy and modern... thats what disappointed me the most..

I recently went to all the major car manufacturer websites to research website design / quality.
Dodge is the worst. Hideous, uninformative and crappy layouts.
I think ford probably has the best online build your own website.

Subaru's is appualing, some of the Nissan site is quite bad, Honda refuses to show the interior of their cars on the configurator, the Audi site can get annoying (i.e., if you are trying to build a car on an iPad, sometimes it will suddenly crash), and lastly, the Ram/Fiat/Jeep configurator is ridiculously terrible.

A few months ago I got online to design a 600hL for the GF's boss - I found the Lexus site clean and useable. I recall playing around on a French site - probably Citroen - and being utterly frustrated. And I understand some French.

Ooooh boy. I've been waiting for this for a while.
Hands down worst: Honda .
Notably bad nominees:
Buick
(weird because Chevy isn't so bad)
Chrysler
(weird because Dodge isn't so bad!)
Best: Ford, definitely.

I'm seconding the ford bump. It really is an awesome website, and even shows lots of specs and data that no other manufacturer has.

That must be the VW US site - the UK site does allow you to configure cars.

The Canadian one does too.

Beautiful car, mediocre website.

Just yesterday I went on vw.com to see how much a brown manual diesel wagon would cost. I was really annoyed that they didn't have a build and price option. Of course no one has one in stock. I guess I'll have to ask my friend that special ordered a red manual diesel wagon.

I don't play around with these much, but I vote Kia.
